### Summary
This position serves the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), ICE Health Service Corps (IHSC), Miami, AZ, and Tacoma, WA, detention facilities. As Medical Officer (General Practice) you will be responsible for clinical medical, mental and dental services provided for detainees. You will perform duties such as:

Conduct a program of primary medical care with responsibility for examination, diagnosis, treatment, and emergency care of patients;
Work in concert with both facility staff (Federal and contract) and consultant specialists in various clinical areas and constantly monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care.
Provide and oversee care appropriate to patient needs, severity of disease, condition, impairment or disability within the scope of care provided in the detention setting (medical housing unit care and or ambulatory care).
Provide professional supervision to assigned staff of nurses and mid-level providers and provide input for their performance rating.
Direct and participate in preventive health programs such as immunization, disease detection, and disease prevention activities.

### Qualifications
GP-14: You qualify at the GP-14 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that equipped you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This experience must have been equivalent to at least the GP-13 grade level and could be obtained in a position that provides extensive knowledge of medicine including basic concepts of disease, diagnosis, and treatment modalities and the experience to apply this knowledge to the development and implementation of medical policies and procedures.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified candidates will undergo a credentialing process prior to employment with the IHSC. This process includes validation of medical examinations, education, internship and residency.
Graduate Training: In addition to the Intern/Residency requirement, you must have completed three years of medical specialty training in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Occupational Medicine, or Preventive Medicine leading to board eligibility in that field, with board certification preferred and at least one year of directly related, professional experience (equivalent to the GP-13 level in the federal service performing professional or scientific work in a field of medicine that may involve providing direct patient-care services. PROOF OF RESIDENCY TRAINING AND BOARD CERTIFICATION (IF APPLICABLE) IS REQUIRED WITH YOUR APPLICATION.
CPR BLS Certification: You must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with either the American Red Cross (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers or American Heart Association (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers). A COPY OF YOUR CURRENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED WITH YOUR APPLICATION.
Shift Assignment: The facility is operational twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. This job requires regular and recurring overtime and rotating shiftwork work. You must be available for such assignment.
English Language Proficiency: Physicians, including residents, appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Degree: You must possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent schools certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or a fifth pathway certificate for American students who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country. A COPY OF YOUR DOCTOR OF MEDICINE DEGREE IS REQUIRED WITH YOUR APPLICATION.
Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training. Graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada (i.e. Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and/or American Medical Association (AMA)).
Licensure: You must possess a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Your license must be maintained in a permanent, full, and unrestricted status during the term of employment. Continuing education requirements must be met as required for licensing. A COPY OF YOUR CURRENT LICENSURE IS REQUIRED WITH YOUR APPLICATION.
